This website is the English version of a database for the current and former vertebrate inventories of European zoos and other public collections. There is a special focus on German institutions as it is the most important European zoo country and most users are Germans. It is tried to keep the data as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible - therefore we appreciate the help of interested people.
If you find mistakes, if you have more detailed information about certain holdings or if you would like to have new zoos or species added, please leave a message on the notice board. Thanks.
Unfortunately, the Zootierliste was hacked, yesterday. The hacker has deleted all data from the website and database.
We used a back up two days ago, but 60-100 entries are lost.
The hackers deleted the database and have seen insight the user table. This means that he could have copied the email adresses. So please, fits on a little bit, if you also receive SPAM. Your passwords are not affected, which are not shown in plain letters and they have 21 characters.
Sorry for the loss of Zootierliste. Now everything is working again, we hope that you still continue to have fun with the Zootierliste.

Now, smaller bony fishes (with less then 40 cm of total length) are collected, if they are in one of the 6 following states of threated species according to the "IUCN Red List of Threatened Species":
- EX - Extinct
- EW - Extinct in the Wild
- CR - Critically Endangered
- EN - Endangered
- VU - Vulnerable
- NT - Near Threatened
